A short revisit to the list of main e-mail implementations available from CPAN. The MailTools distribution is old: it does not support multiparts, and does not preserve header field order. MIME-Tools is a large wrapper around MailTools, which adds these required features. MailBox is a total rewrite of all e-mail related code, although it has partially a compatible or comparable interface. The Email::* modules are a new implementation based on MailTools.

The Email::* modules release each component of the library as separate distribution on CPAN. MailBox is organized as one huge distribution. Both approaches have their own advantages and disadvantages.
