We do action these requests and have processed 2009 of them between
early December and yesterday.

We have to do them by hand entering the sender's address into a
Mailsweeper scenario that then denies all further mail from that
address. It's not a 2 second job. We're looking at automating it but
that's not a trivial operation either.

Senders frequently create new addresses because they know that their
rubbish gets blocked, so we're always blocking after they've
successfully sent something in. The only way of quickly automating it
would be to block on textual analysis looking for key phrases, which
is
a built-in feature in Mailsweeper. However we don't have authority to
do
that as you can see from recommendation 6 of the attached IAS report.
I'm copying this to Eric Sampson in case he has any views on whether
this recommendation should be reconsidered.
